Theresa May had her penultimate Prime Minister Questions. She used the occasion to criticise Labour Leader Jeremy Corbyn on the alleged anti-Semitism in the Labour Party and asked him to apologise. Corbyn did not apologise, but instead defended his Party’s legislative record and hit back at Theresa May and alleged Islamophobia in the Conservative Party.

After PMQs, May then used her final major speech as Prime Minister to say the growth of “uncompromising absolutism” is making politics about “winners and losers”. She also said that “words have consequences”, saying: “Ill words that go unchallenged are the first step on a continuum towards ill deeds – towards a much darker place where hatred and prejudice drive not only what people say but also what they do.

Next week, Theresa May will stand at the dispatch box at PMQs to stand in for the new elected leader of the Conservative Party who will become the Prime Minister later that afternoon.

Tonight, Boris Johnson and Jeremy Hunt held their final hustings with Conservative Party members in East London as they bid for the final votes from the Party membership. One of the candidates will become Leader of the Conservatives and the Prime Minister in less than a week.

Following heckles from the audience, Johnson ruled out a coalition with the Brexit Party if he became Prime Minister, but sticking with the line that we will leave the EU on October 31st whatever happens. Hunt was not challenged on this issue.

Elsewhere, Guido carried the story that Extinction Rebellion ‘want to stop economic growth’ during their 5 days of protests in 5 cities.

HuffPost was the first national to break the story that Labour have sacked Shadow Minister Dianne Hayter after she compared Jeremy Corbyn to Adolf Hitler.
