16:52 (10th April): Just before the daily press conference, a Downing Street spokesperson has issued a short statement regarding the Prime Minister’s recovery. The PM has been able to do short walks in the ward at St Thomas Hospital as part of the care he is receiving, and has also thanked his doctors and clinical team for the “incredible care” he has received.
19:30: The PM has been moved out of the ICU at St Thomas’ hospital and is now back on the ward.
17:04: Raab also tells the nation that a further 881 people have died from the coronavirus. This is slightly down from yesterday’s total of 938.
17:00: Raab confirms in the daily press conference that the PM is doing well in hospital but is still in the ICU.
15:40: The Department for Work and Pensions say that they have received 1.2 million claims for universal credit since 16th March.
15:15 (9th April): NHS England have announced that a further 765 people in England have died of Coronavirus.
17:24: Sunak says that it is not useful to speculate on the future about the lockdown and if different parts of the UK could be taken out of lockdown before others. He reiterates the government message of ‘stay home, protect the NHS, save lives’.
17:15: Deputy chief scientific adviser shares that the spread of the Coronavirus ‘is not accelerating’, meaning that the curve may be beginning to flatten.
17:07: Sunak announces £750 million for charity sector, with £370 million going to local charities, whom he describes as the “unsung heroes”.
17:01: Rishi Sunak tells the UK that the PM is receiving excellent care from St Thomas Hospital and that he is sitting up in bed and engaging “positively” with the clinical staff.
16:52: The Department for Health and Social Care have released the Coronavirus figures for today. The UK total for Coronavirus deaths stands at 7,097.
16:25: Foreign Office says that over 1.3 million Britons have returned to the UK since the COVID-19 outbreak started and expect thousands more to return this week.
14:16: Deaths in England from Coronavirus have increased to a daily total of 828, Sky news have reported, which takes the total death toll to 6,483. This comes after a three day decrease of daily deaths on the weekend.
13:26 (8th April): The Prime Minister is responding to treatment and remains “clinically stable”, a Downing Street spokesperson has told reporters this afternoon. The PM also remains in good spirits as he continues to be treated at the St Thomas Hospital in London.
22:45: The Prime Minister is spending his second night in intensive care tonight, after his admission into the ICU at the St Thomas Hospital in London on late Monday afternoon.
22:15: The Times has reported that the Prime Minister’s persistently high temperature has fallen.
21:35: A Downing Street spokesman earlier this afternoon said that the PM has not been diagnosed with pneumonia and is still being treated with oxygen. It has also been confirmed that during the PM’s absence that Raab and the cabinet has the authority to respond to a UK military threat, including using the UK’s nuclear deterrent. However Raab has not been asked to write his own letter of last resort which details what the nuclear submarines should do if the country is hit by a nuclear attack and they cannot contact the government. Johnson’s letter is still in use at this time.
17:00: Patrick Vallance tells the public that the data suggests we could be seeing the start of a change, hinting that the curve could be starting to flatten. He stresses though that it is not confirmed yet, and will have to wait for more data in the next few weeks.
17:02: Raab also says that the PM is a fighter, and that he is confident the Johnson will pull through.
17:00: Raab says that the Prime Minister is stable in hospital, and remains in good spirits. Says he will give more info on the Prime Minister’s condition whenever they become available.
16:07: At around 5pm tonight Dominic Raab is set to hold the daily UK press conference on the Coronavirus crisis, and is expected to update the country on the Prime Minister’s condition.
15:30: The Queen has sent her well wishes to Carrie Symonds and the PM’s family
14:19: The death toll in the UK has risen by 786, taking the total deaths to 6,159.
14:07: A spokesman for the Prime Minister has said that if Dominic Raab is taken ill, Rishi Sunak will take over deputising for the PM.
12:54: The Prime Minister remains stable in ICU, and is still using oxygen support, however has not needed mechanical ventilation to support his breathing. Number 10 has also said that the Prime Minister remains in good spirits at this time.
12:00: Last night the Prime Minister received oxygen support but did not need help from a ventilator. Michael Gove has said that if there is any change in the PM’s condition No 10 will update the country.
02:30 (7th April): It is being reported by medical experts in general terms that the PM’s condition could be viewed as very serious. However, we have not yet received reports from anyone at the scene and should be stressed that minute-by-minute speculation on Mr Johnson’s health is highly unlikely to be helpful at present. We will continue to monitor any reports we receive as to this situation on the ground and update this article as this progresses.

22:25: The Prime Minister was admitted to the St Thomas Hospital in London on Sunday afternoon, 10 Downing Street have said, purely as a precaution. However, late Monday afternoon the PM’s condition worsened and was moved to an ICU unit. Johnson remains conscious and is not on a ventilator at the moment.
22:10: Rolling coverage as Prime Minister Boris Johnston was admitted to intensive care earlier this evening and Dominic Raab is chosen personally by the PM to deputise for him.
