Boris’ good week continued today, as it was announced his fiancée had given birth to a baby boy this morning. It was only this Monday that he returned to his position as Prime Minister, after spending weeks out fighting a bad bout of coronavirus in intensive care, and now he has welcomed his new child into the world.

Reports from a Number 10 spokeswoman said that the mother and baby were both doing very well. The Prime Minister’s spokeswoman also added: “The PM and Ms Symonds would like to thank the fantastic NHS maternity team.” It is reported the Ms Symonds gave birth in an NHS hospital in London, with Johnson by her side. She had also previously spent a week in isolation with coronavirus symptoms herself.

The Prime Minister’s father, Stanley Johnson, said he was “absolutely delighted” and “thrilled” at the birth of his grandson.

Boris missed today’s Prime Minister’s Questions to be with his fiancée and child, while Dominic Raab stepped in to deputise. Sir Keir Starmer, Leader of the Opposition, paid tribute to Mr Johnson at PMQs, saying that “as human beings, I think we all recognise the anxiety that the Prime Minister and Carrie must have gone through in these past few weeks – unimaginable anxiety. I really hope that this brings them incredible relief and joy.”

Boris Johnson has also announced he will not be taking paternity leave, until after the coronavirus crisis is over.

We at Wolves wish the Prime Minister and his new family all the very best for the future!
